Over the past two weeks, first graders have been learning about Sneaky E! Sneaky E comes at the end of a word and makes the vowel say its name. Sneaky E is silent at the end of the word too!
We have worked with words that have the vowel a or the vowel i in them. We learned that Sneaky E changes words like mad into made, rat into rate, and rid into ride. Throughout the last two weeks, first grade friends have worked together to build words and discover how Sneaky E changes the vowel sound, which changes the word too. They have had so much fun with Sneaky E and we will continue to learn about Sneaky E in the next few weeks as well!

Today in first grade we also learned that the letter C can sometimes sound like the letter S. Your child can now read words with silent, sneaky e and can read words where C sounds like S.
Please continue to encourage your child to read these types of words on their own at home. I know they can do it! :)
