In first grade we have been learning about word endings such as -ed, -ing, and -s. -ed is used when something has already happened (I jumped.), -ing is used when something is happening right now (I am jumping.), and -s is used when other people are do something (Miss Martin jumps).
Today we joined with our writing partners to play a super spinner game. Students would spin a word like kick or play, spin a word ending like -ed/-ing/-s, put the two together to make a word, and then mark their 5 in a Row bingo board.
Look how much fun learning can be!
