Background Information and Experiences
Welcome! My name is Jana Martin and I would love to share a little bit about myself. I grew up in Zeeland, Michigan and graduated from Zeeland West High School in 2008. I continued my education at Hope College and graduated in 2012 with a degree in Elementary Education (with a Language Arts composite). Last school year I taught kindergarten at Hamilton Elementary with the Hamilton Community School District. It has been a dream of mine to return to Zeeland Public Schools and I am thrilled to teach first grade at Adams Elementary this year.
Children have always been one of my greatest passions! I have had numerous experiences working with children, including: Child care provider at Ultimate Fitness and Health, full-time nanny, Camp Geneva Shores and Day Camp counselor, Heights of Hope children's mentor, Central Wesleyan Church Sunday school teacher, Girls On The Run head coach, The Rock after school tutor, CASA tutor at Hope College, teacher aid in six various field placements, student teacher in a first grade classroom at Blue Star Elementary, and full time kindergarten teacher at Hamilton Elementary.
I have a heart for children and a genuine passion for teaching. I am so thankful for the opportunity to meet each one of my students and to provide the best education possible for them as they grow as individuals and life-long learners! :) It will be a great year!
