As we discussed at parent-teacher conferences, the first graders are working hard on building their math fact fluency. This week we had a few short minutes before lunch to play a quick game of quiet ball with math facts. The kids loved playing this simple game to practice math fact fluency! They took turns tossing the ball (covered in a variety of addition math facts) to one another. They read an equation aloud and quickly found the total before passing it to another friend. The first graders loved playing this game to build their math fact fluency, and their favorite part was having the privilege of sitting on their desk while they played! :)
Have you heard about Fluency Fridays? This week we added Fluency Fridays to our math time. We have 2 minutes to complete 40 math facts. Once we can answer all 40 correctly, we move to another set of 40 math facts. The monkey friends fill in a rocket as they progress to the next level. We all started on A this week and are building our fluency to Z.
Great job on your fluency friends! I am so proud of your hard work and enthusiasm in math!
